WORLD CLASS SKIING AT SENSIBLE PRICES.

David Cowx, estate agent in Paradiski, gives us food for thought on why to buy there …….

First things first; skiing can be an expensive sport and an expensive family holiday and there is no doubt that property prices in The French Alps can look expensive compared to other parts of France.

However it is still possible to get value for money with WORLD CLASS SKIING AT SENSIBLE PRICES.

For those who self drive or hire a car from the airport all you have to do is turn left at Moutiers and head towards the Moyenne ( Middle) Tarentaise; if you catch the train then remember to get off at Aime .

Above you are the mountains of the joint La Plagne, Les Arcs, Paradiski ski area with 425 km of piste; one of the worlds biggest ski areas.

The skiing here is a match for just about any other ski area with property prices that, frankly, make prices in The Three Valleys and Val d’Isère look daft.

Property ranges from ski in ski out studios and apartments in high altitude resort villages to similar properties in the more charming lower villages such as Montchavin and Montalbert.

For those looking for the most “bang for their buck” then chalets and houses down in the valley can be bought for the same price as many apartments and are still only 10-15 minutes from the nearest lift. These properties are ideal for all year round holidays

This area is ideal for all levels of skiers as the choice of resorts means that there is something for everyone; fantastic skiing without the “fur coat and no knickers” image of The Three Valleys and Val d’Isère.

It is a similar argument as you go through Bourg St Maurice into the Haute Tarentaise towards La Rosiere and Ste Foy Tarentaise; great value properties can be found only a short drive from the lifts.

Bourg St Maurice itself has an all year round “mini Chamonix” vibe with a  thriving tourist trade in the summer as well as winter.

In a nutshell, there is something for everyone –and—if you fancy a bit of “fur coat and no knickers—and from time to time who doesn’t!!!–Well it is only 40 minutes away in the car.
