A recent article on the Rightmove site states that France comes top.

A recent survey states that France still comes out at the top of the list of countries British people would most like to move to for “quality of life”. This will come as no surprise to you, I am sure.

They continue on to say that “France is a wonderful place to live, offering space, beauty, fine food and wine and great cultural interest. Add to that the fact that you can often buy a property in France for less than half of what you would likely pay in the UK for similar and you really have the stuff of which dreams are made. More and more people, disillusioned with life in the UK, are looking to up sticks and move to France.”
